mountain meadow
ten thousand ways
to open into grace
Orange poppies, purple lupine and a host of other wildflowers blanket a mountain meadow in this evocative print. The original haiku offers a Zen sense of unlimited possibility.
dappled day
the way the river
weaves through stones
A river tumbles through woods and over stones in this evocative landscape. This image combines with the words to evoke a sense of peace and centeredness. It makes a great wall print for those who love nature and know firsthand the deep strength one can draw from spending time in the wilderness.
I wrote the words and painted the piece with sumi ink and Japanese watercolors on textured paper.

A devoted dog swims across a wide green river towards the viewer in this evocative piece, called “Kaya in the Klamath.” I was inspired by a friendly neighbor dog who hung out with my family on a summer vacation at the Klamath River in Northern California. At our cabin that week, I painted this piece with sumi ink and Japanese watercolors on heavy paper.

juicy bugs . . .
so many paths
to bliss
Three Rhode Island Red chickens peck the grass in this painting inspired by my mother’s chickens. I can hear their contented clucking as they “follow their bliss” on a beautiful spring morning. The gentle Zen humor in this piece is an appealing reminder that, for chickens and humans alike, there are many ways to find happiness.
